Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)

Coronary Artery Disease occurs when the major blood vessels supplying the heart become damaged or diseased, usually due to cholesterol-containing deposits (plaque) and inflammation.
Angina (chest discomfort), pressure or squeezing in the chest, pain radiating to the jaw or arm, and shortness of breath.
High blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, obesity, and genetic history.
Electrocardiogram, stress testing, cardiac catheterization (angiogram), and CT scans.
Medications (statins, beta-blockers), angioplasty and stenting, or coronary bypass surgery (CABG).
